Judges' Special Prize 2009/2010

The founder of a bereavement counselling cente in Leicester has been awarded the Leicestershire First Judges' Special Prize 2009/2010.

Gail Moore set up the Laura Centre with her husband after the death of her daughter.

The centre helps hundreds of people every year and  Gail has dedicated nearly 20 years to the Laura Centre which she set up with her husband, Harry, in 1991, after they lost their daughter, Laura, to leukaemia.
The centre provides support for 400 people each year, and staff counsel families after the death of a child and children who have lost parents.
After receiving the award, Gail said: "It has been for the love of Laura that I have been able to do this but we couldn't have achieved as much as we have without the support of the Leicestershire community."
