A man diagnosed with cancer who went on to help raise £500,000 for fellow sufferers with prostate cancer in Leicestershire has won a £3,000 Leicestershire First Award for volunteering. Stuart Berry was presented with the prize at half-time on Saturday [March 21] on the Walkers Stadium pitch by Foxes legend Alan Birchenall.

The first of a new series of £3,000 awards to donate to good causes in Leicestershire has today been won by a music teacher. Helen Collins formed a choir of schoolboys and led them on a journey to the stage of the Royal Albert Hall and into the living rooms of the nation in the TV series The Choir.
